Situated on the far South West Coast of Victoria, Portland is the oldest European settlement in the State of Victoria and is also the main urban centre of the Glenelg Shire and Discovery Coast.
The Discovery Coast is the western gateway of The Great Ocean Road and includes the townships of Portland, Cape Bridgewater, Casterton, Heywood, Dartmoor, Narrawong, Merino and Nelson.
The region is highly regarded for its agriculture, as well as an outstanding coastline and offers a huge range of attractions and activities including hiking, whale watching, 4-wheel driving, sensational beach and deep sea fishing, encounters with seals both at the Seal Caves and around the local beaches, various water sports, beautiful beaches, bays, lakes, historical architecture and loads of heritage.
The Glenelg Shire is accessible through a range of transport options including daily flights from Melbourne, V/Line coach and connecting rail services to Melbourne, as well as coach services to other parts of the State and Shire.
